About Us
Smyth’s Funeral Directors has served families in Ballybay and the surrounding area since 1979, when Liam Smyth established the funeral business in the heart of the town.
In the early years, Liam hired a hearse as required before purchasing the firm’s first hearse around 1980. From those beginnings, the business grew through personal service, local knowledge and a commitment to being available whenever a family needed support.
Liam was later joined by his son Martin, who has worked alongside him for many years.
Although funeral customs and facilities have changed over the years, Smyth’s remains a family-run funeral service built on personal attention, practical guidance and dependable care.
Our Funeral Home in Ballybay
Smyth’s Funeral Home is a modern, comfortable and intimate space in central Ballybay.
Designed as a home from home, it provides families with a private and welcoming setting in which to gather. The funeral home is suitable for public wakes, funeral ceremonies and smaller private gatherings, with flexible seating that can be arranged to suit each family.
Considerable attention has been given to the comfort and convenience of families and visitors. The facilities include air conditioning, wheelchair access, a welcoming reception area, a family kitchen, modern bathroom facilities and ample nearby parking.
The funeral home is non-denominational and can be arranged to reflect the beliefs, traditions and personal wishes of each family.
The Smyth family pub adjoins the funeral home, allowing refreshments to be served during the wake without families and visitors having to travel elsewhere.
